Mika & Russell's Jamaica Wedding

I wanted to start off by saying that I can not thank Mika & Russell enough for trusting us and bringing us along to Jamaica to document their wedding. It was an amazing experience traveling out of the country to a new place that we didn't know much about. We had an amazing time on our adventures while there and we would go back again and do it all over again if the opportunity presented itself. This was actually my first time even flying on an airplane (not my favorite thing to do in the world, but it wasn't as bad as I expected).

We met Mika & Russell in Wilmington last year and photographed their engagement photos for them. They traveled up from Georgia to Wilmington because they loved the vibe of the town and the beach and thought it would be a perfect place for their engagement photos. After we did their engagement session, they invited us to photograph the wedding in Jamaica and needless to say they didn't have to ask twice. Traveling isn't new to us, but traveling that far was definitely a new experience as it was a true destination wedding!

We stayed at the Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios beach and our experience with the resort was great. The people of Jamaica were great as well and we had a lot of fun on the waterfall tour and zip-lining through the mountains. Mika & Russell were nice enough to bring us down a day early in case of travel delays, so we were able to experience Jamaica some in the downtown. Our favorite experience was definitely hiking up the waterfalls. There was actually a funny story was when we were on the zip-lining tour. We reached the end and were required to take the chair lifts down the rest of the mountain. As soon as we were about to hop on the chair lift, the power went out to the lift and stayed out for over an hour. We were fortunate enough to be stuck on the ground and not 100 ft in the air though, and after over an hour of trying to make it down the mountain we hopped on the bus to get back to the resort in time for the rehearsal dinner. The food and restaurants at the Sandals were top notch!

The wedding day was simply beautiful and the day went very smoothly. The relaxed atmosphere helped us get some great shots in between shuttling around the resort to start with. The ceremony was amazing and Mika & Russell were very easy to work which allowed us to get some great photos for them. We hope you enjoy these favorites of ours :
