The Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a treasure trove of opportunities for engagement photos. The gardens are located on the campus of Duke University. Duke Gardens engagement photos are always romantically beautiful. The picturesque grounds has it all! From vivid flowers, luscious greenery, and fun and unique design elements found in the architecture. This Raleigh, NC wedding photographer is always ecstatic when we get to visit and photograph at this amazing location. These historic gardens were the perfect location for Alice and Andrew’s Duke Garden’s engagement photos session. Alice and Andrew’s engagement session was drenched with fantastic laughs, dance moves, and a few cameos from the local residents of the gardens!
Alice and Andrew are two absolutely incredible people! They are people that you meet and feel as though you have always known them. We knew that their Duke Garden’s engagement session was going to be one for the “blogs”! (Or books….) It isn’t every session you get to have this much fun as a photographer. Scheduling sessions can be one of the most stressful moments for all in the wedding industry. We’re battling many schedules, seasonal quirks, and inclement weather! No matter how much you check the weather, sometimes in North Carolina, weather just happens. We are so glad that Alice and Andrew were up for embracing the North Carolina rain with us. Y’all this was no ordinary NC shower, this. was. full. blown. raining. cats. and. dogs. rain! We got soaked!
As Raleigh, NC Wedding Photographers, we always encourage our couples to include sentimental items/locations/etc. for their engagement sessions. Yes, we love photographing the Duke Gardens engagement sessions, however we love even more that the Duke Gardens was chosen by Alice and Andrew for their engagement session as this is where Andrew proposed to Alice! We knew we had to give them something out of the ordinary for this extraordinarily life changing location. Before Andrew and Alice tied the knot, we had to figure out some way to tie together a meaningful image by which to remember the day. Between Beth’s creative eye and Chad’s go-go-gadget arms, we were able to shoot through a single water droplet (we will #neverforget the amount of rain that fell during this session) and capture Alice and Andrew at the exact location where he proposed!
After the monsoon-esque rain came the most gorgeous sunlight! Our rain showers turned to golden showers that took us on a chase to drench ourselves in as much golden sunlight as possible. The way this light lit up the famous red bridge at the Duke Gardens was truly incredible. We had an absolute blast photographing in the most perfect rainstorm, sunlight, bright colors, and sentimental spots with Alice and Andrew.
We can’t wait to photograph their wedding this coming August!
